It can be difficult to get accustomed to the medication. However, it is worthwhile. I usually find a difference in my pain within 25-30 minutes of taking it.

My father in law took this under GP prescription for some time for chronic pain. After some time his mental health deteriorated and he became threatening and then violent and we had to move my mother in law for her safety. The geriatric nursing team listened to the background and immediately took him off the tramadol as a nurse knew this could be a serious side effect. In the following 2 weeks he improved considerably and was appalled by his behaviour and bitterly upset by the effects on his wife and family. This is a very dangerous drug for long term use and the side effects are not nearly as well known as they should be.

I was given tramadol for chronic pain... was doing fine until I started being sick and losing all interest in food to the point that I had no appetite.. I lost almost two stone in weight in just under 9 weeks! Shocking medication... I will never ever take it again.
